Social and Emotional IssuesChildren face a large number of issues throughout their lives as they grow from children to adults. Camp MakeBelieve Kid's curriculum focuses on many different emotional and behavioral issues that children will face. Bullying hurts everyone. Parents, teachers and communities need to work together on policies and strategies — starting in pre-school — that get kids talking, feeling, caring. Camp MakeBelieve Kids can help start the conversation. Divorce is something many of our Camp MakeBelieve families have had to face. Camp MakeBelieve Kids' Social and Emotional Learning Program provides children and parents with the tools for dealing with this stressful crisis and issues related to it. At Camp MakeBelieve Kids, we believe that teaching children social and emotional learning skills is a necessary component for a comprehensive obesity prevention program. Some times, children are unique. Not all children respond the same way to each other and to themselves. For these children, Camp MakeBelieve Kids offers material to help in three distinct areas: autism, ADHD, and gifted children. The CMB Kids Program is designed for elementary and middle school age children (varies according to maturity level) and focuses specifically on those crucial areas – communication, socialization, control, and imagination – which are typically problematic for the autistic child.
Camp MakeBelieve Kids is a unique after school program that provides the social and emotional learning tools for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). The Camp MakeBelieve Kids program was created with gifted children in mind. Gifted children often get referred to CMB Kids by teachers, school counselors or child therapists who have identified red flags and need an intervention. We offer materials to help them excel.
Our mission at Camp MakeBelieve Kids is to create an environment where children can safely express their feelings and thoughts in order to prevent attitudes such as self-depression that leads to suicide in children.
