Camp MakeBelieve Kids - Educatorʼs Edition

Camp MakeBelieve Kids (CMB Kids), an after-school program that has been serving hundreds of children in the Southern Nevada Community since 1996 by Creator of the program, Marriage and Family Therapist,  Pamela Goldberg.  In 2008, the CMB Kids License became  available that allows professionals throughout the U.S. to conduct this program.

CMB Kids soon realized that the greatest need for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is in the classroom.  Educators, aware of the vast research studies that strongly demonstrate that children who participate in SEL programs improve academics by at least 11%, have better attitudes, healthier relationships and attach to school, thus making them more likely to graduate, go on to college and compete globally.  Public school districts, greatly underfunded, have insisted that this innovative, quality SEL program become more affordable.  To meet the economic challenges, CMB Kids have stepped up to the plate.  Goldberg and her team of professionals have developed a new arm of CMB Kids that can readily be incorporated within the regular classroom curriculum. The newly structured 8-Step CMB Kids Program is user-friendly, flexible, and portable.  Moreover, it can be easily customized to meet the needs of many different populations of students and schools throughout the district.  CMB Kids can be used as a cross curricular instruction or as a supplement to align with Reading Literacy!

The innovative CMB approach uses specialized stories, interactive audio tools, intimate discussions, and expressive art techniques to help children become more emotionally competent. As children move through the CMB experience, they soon begin to feel more “normal” and comfortable in their own skin.  As a result, they become more confident, focused, relaxed, and motivated students.  Specialized take home memos even involve parents with weekly explanations of the concepts being taught and suggestions on how to reinforce strategies at home, thus, bridging the gap between school and community-— which makes a better world for all of us.

 Testimony

"The study really shines a light on something many parents look for, but seems to elude them. Validation that the program works --RESULTS. Isn't that the biggest question you get, "What will the program give my son or daughter...what can I expect...how long will it take to see results?" I'm very proud Jake is attending the Camp MakeBelieve Kids program. The changes he's made are priceless!"
