Professionals and Camp MakeBelieve KidsThe Camp MakeBelieve Kids social and emotional learning program can be customized to meet the needs of almost any professional who works with children. Currently CMB Kids is used by teachers, school counselors, school psychologists, mental health counselors in private practice or working in an organization, psychiatrists as suppliment to their practice, after school instructors, and camp counselors and instructors.
No time is wasted when the CMB Kids program becomes the classroom companion!
The greatest need for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is in the classroom. Educators, aware of the vast research studies that strongly demonstrate that children who participate in SEL programs improve academics by at least 11%, have better attitudes, healthier relationships and attach to school, thus making them more likely to graduate. Public school districts, greatly underfunded, have insisted that this innovative, quality SEL program become more affordable.
To meet the economic challenges, CMB Kids have stepped up to the plate. Goldberg and her team of professionals have developed a new arm of CMB Kids that can readily be incorporated within the regular classroom curriculum. The newly structured 8-Step CMB Kids Program is user-friendly, flexible, and portable. Moreover, it can be easily customized to meet the needs of many different populations of students and schools throughout the district.

The CMB Kids Social Stories introduce a Virtual Counselor who comes to the school and helps children find solutions to their social and emotional issues. The Virtual Counselor is a real person in the story with voice animation who teaches the children about bullying, teasing, low self-esteem, poor impulse control, and calm down tools, peer pressure, self- control strategies and more. The Virtual Counselor helps the children to generalize the problem, rather than making it specific to any one person or situation. This takes the stigma away from counseling, takes the focus off the children with the issues and normalizes the problem--while offering support and solutions. Teachers report that the classroom becomes more conducive to learning---and less likely for the problem behaviors to reoccur.
Teachers, faced with the challenges of teaching inordinate amounts of information in very little time have seen the benefits of incorporating the CMB Kids curriculum within the regular classroom as cross curricular instruction. With a step-by-step instructions broken down into 10, 15 or 30 minute segments of time, teachers are able to turn unstructored classroom time into productive life lessons.
