All children can benefit from the techniques learned in Camp MakeBelieve. In fact many states now require the teaching of SEL (social and emotional learning) in the classroom. Children with Autism or Asperger’s Disorder can benefit from the program if they are functioning at a high level. This is a determination that must be made during the intake by the counselor in consultation with the parents.
Is CMB just an afterschool program?
CMB's guidebook and activities can be modified for use in the classroom.
Does my child have to attend all 8 Steps of the Program?
No, but it is recommended that a child complete all eight steps of the program to receive it's full benefit. Reinforcement of concepts throughout the program help the child to process and retain the behavior.
My child's friend has been attending a Camp MakeBelieve program for about a month now. Do I have to wait another 7 months before I can enroll my child?
Children can start the program at the beginning of any module - usually at the beginning of the month. Click on "Find a Camp MakeBelieve Kids Near You" to get program schedules and information. How can I get CMB Kids in my school? Approach your school counselor, meet with PTA, influence they can have on your school, present the program and help them get in touch with CMB Kids, buy educator's program for their school
