The 8-Step Program

The Camp MakeBelieve After-School Program is comprised of 8 Steps, all geared toward building emotional competence in kids. Traditionally, the program runs weekly for 1.5 hour sessions for 8 consecutive months from October through June. Each month, 1 of the 8 Steps is covered once a week and the lessons build upon the last.

Children are placed in small groups according to their age and/or maturity level. Since the program can be customized to meet the needs of each community, groups may be set up in a variety of different ways.

Each Step has a supplemental workbook and 1 to 2 CDs. The first Step; Peer Connections, also comes with the Camp MakeBelieve Kids CD case. The workbooks and CDs prices are included in the overall expense of the program. If however, your child has attended CMB in the past and has any of these materials, let us know and you will be reimbursed from the monthly program rate. These materials are available only to the children who attend our CMB program and come to you at a very low cost. A complete list of our workbooks and CDs are available by request. These materials are not available to the general public as yet and can only be obtained by attending the program or consulting with a Licensed Camp MakeBelieve counselor.

The 8-Step Program

Price is $2800.00

Price includes:

Tuition for the 8 month program includes: All 8 Camp MakeBelieve Kids workbooks with accompanying CDs (total of 12) and illustrated CD case, color posters, art supplies, and snacks. Also included are the Parent Memos, with information about what was taught in each group and suggestions for how you can implement these strategies at home with your child, 32 Parent Memos in all! The Camp MakeBelieve Kids counselors also prepare evaluations to give parents feedback on their child’s progress, strengths as well as recommendations for future building of emotional competence. Remember, learning social and emotional skills are equally as important as learning academics. Research demonstrates that children who excel in social and emotional learning perform better academically, like going to school, are more willing to participate in sports and form healthy connections with peers, family and community – making the world a better place.

"This is a great collection of common childhood behavior problems that both kids and parents can relate to. I commend Ms. Goldberg on her ability to relate to kids on their level"
