The CMB Kids Program
Children need skills, resources, strategies and protective factors so they may live according to the values set by school and community. A child may have good character but still not understand how to deal with strong feelings, or how to conduct himself appropriately with peers or people in authority.
Camp MakeBelieve Kids Social and Emotional Learning Program goes beyond character education, offering an innovative and entertaining approach that equips children and pre-teens with tools and strategies that will last them a lifetime. Evaluated by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Florida State University, The California After School Resource Center and the Healthy Kids Resource Center, the program has been proven to get results.
Creation of CMB Kids Program
The program was created by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Pamela Goldberg, in 1996, in response to the overwhelming number of children who were out of control with their emotions and behavior, effecting everyone around them. She discovered that social and emotional learning is necessary for all children, and needs to be taught in a way that kids can relate to, remember, and learn skills to build upon. A specialist in child therapy, Goldberg developed a unique and entertaining and simple approach to teaching the complex concepts of social and emotional learning to children, teachers and parents.
In 2008, CMB Kids, LLC was formed with the express purpose of developing and distributing a nationally marketed, evidenced based and easily implemented quality social and emotional learning program. CMB Kids is now aligned with Reading Literacy Standards to use in the classroom or as academic enrichment in the after school setting.
