Counseling Groups and the CMB Kids Program

Camp MakeBelieve Kids introduces a Virtual Counselor to schools and after school programs through the voice animated workbook stories, allowing teachers and counselors to help children explore and validate their emotions, actions and real life challenges. This Virtual Counselor is uniquely suited to lead children in counseling groups.

The Virtual Counselor helps children to generalize the problem, rather than making it specific to any one person or situation. The Virtual Counselor illustrates the similarities of feelings and behavior within children all over the world, thus bridging the gap between school and the global community. The results are children who are more accepting and supportive of those who are different, within their own school--and beyond.

The Virtual Counselor is a consultant for parents and teachers and assists in explaining complicated concepts to groups of children, thus taking the stigma away from being sent to the counselor. The focus is generalized toward the social issue and away from a specific child.  

The Camp MakeBelieve Kids Virtual Counselor is one of a multitude of inter-locking tools that give insight as well as specific strategies that prevent problems such as bullying, low self-esteem, poor impulse control, risky behaviors or destructive emotions from escalating, or from occurring in the first place. Children gain self-respect, esteem, control and confidence, allowing a more conducive environment for academic and social success.
