About Pamela Goldberg
Many Nevadans are well-acquainted with Pam’s pioneering work in the field of family counseling and child development. Her innovative Camp MakeBelieve program and its satellite products have become a staple of the Parenting, Medical, Mental Health and Educational community, not only in Nevada, but throughout the nation.
An RN, M.S., Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Pamela is also a noted lecturer, author, radio, and television personality. |

Pam, who has a busy private marriage and family counseling practice, particularly devoted to teens and children, is frequently called upon by school districts, professional groups and non-profit organizations to conduct workshops and lectures in the field of child development, classroom management and smart parenting.
Some of these groups include, among others, the Nevada State Board of Nursing, American Cancer Society, Nathan Adelson Hospice Camp Mariposa program, Asperger’s Disorder Parenting Support Program, Nevada PEP, Clark County School District Professional Development Program, and the State of Nevada Child and Adolescent Services.
As a result of her leadership and commitment to the development of innovative parent-child programs, she is often a media commentator on child and adolescent news and issues for TV and radio stations including local NBC, CBS, and the cable CBS affiliate, Lotus Broadcasting (radio), “Ask Sadie Live” on KDWN and the Karen Grant Show in Northern California.
In recognition of her achievements, Pam is included in Who's Who in America: Executives & Professionals, 2003. Camp MakeBelieve materials were awarded The National Parenting Seal of Approval in 2004.
Pam received her Master of Science Degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 1996, specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior, she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from Lewis University in Lockport, Illinois in 1980, and was the youngest in her graduating class at Little Company of Mary Hospital Nursing School, in 1977. In nursing school, she won the award for Dedication and Perseverance, traits that would foretell a future of commitment and innovation – including the completion of two 26-mile marathons! She practiced as a critical care nurse for over 15 years, before turning her focus to child, marriage and family issues.
Given her strong belief in encouraging and training young professionals, Pam taught “Contemporary Marriage and Families” at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and continues to supervise both graduate and undergraduate students from a variety of universities, teaching them her innovative Camp MakeBelieve strategies and methods.
Perhaps Pam’s greatest inspiration has been her own family – past and present. As tenth of 12 children, she saw first-hand how conflicts and issues within families can lead to success or failure – depending upon how they’re managed. Today, Pam is the wife of an ER physician. Their 24-year union has created three sons – each with different personalities, challenges, joys – and rewards. Her unique approach is the melding of her years of professional training and personal devotion to her large nuclear and extended family.
It’s not surprising her hobbies are centered on her family and her wide network of professional and personal friends.
