The Camp MakeBelieve Kids 8 Step Guidebook

Camp MakeBelieve Kids is a place Where Kids Learn to Believe in Themselves

All children are eventually faced with social and emotional challenges and must be equipped with tools to protect them and keep them safe. The Camp MakeBelieve Kids program builds those protective factors with a structured social and emotional learning program. Children as young as 5 years old can learn these important concepts that are outlined in the CMB Kids SEL program.

These unique and interlocking educational tools, all designed by a child therapist, begin with the Guidebook, or Curriculum, which is comprised of 8 proven steps developed through years of research, experience and academic contributions to address common childhood social and emotional issues.

How Does the Guidebook Help Kids?

The Camp MakeBelieve Kids 8 Step Guidebook instructs both teachers and counselors how to implement the program and is designed as a 32 week (8 month) course that meets weekly for 1.5 hour sessions. However, CMB Kids can easily be customized to meet the specific needs of the population being served and the amount of time that is available.

The Guidebook breaks down very complicated concepts into simple step by step instructions that allows teachers or counselors to carry out the lesson plans. And just like learning math or reading, children absorb the social and emotional lessons and take can’t wait to practice new strategies with friends and family.

What Is In Each Step?

Each Step is comprised of 4 Blocks; A, B, C & D, each having a specific objective for the lesson.

For example, Step 1 has a goal of helping children develop and maintain healthy peer connections.  The Block A objective is to have children make a connection between socially appropriate behavior and having friends. How much time it takes to meet the objective is determined by amount of teaching time. Lessons can easily be broken down into shorter or longer segments and can be achieved in a variety of ways. Although the objective for each Block remains the same, the Guidebook has hundreds of Suggestions for Activities, Talking Points to lead discussions, Supplemental Materials, Adapting lessons for different populations, how to process what was learned and of course, the Parent Memo for home use. The lessons are valuable, simple and way too much fun.

What Comes In Each CMB Kids Kit?

To supplement Each Step of the Guidebook are the Workbooks, designed as Teaching Tools, one for each Step, that is filled with a Social Story with a Zany and entertaining character, Play Pages, Journal Pages and 1 or 2 Audio Tools; Read along to story, Musical Playlet, Songs and Guided Imagery.

Each Kit includes the 8 Step Guidebook with 32 weeks of lesson plans, 8 separate Workbooks and 10 accompanying Audio CDs.

 Testimony

"The study really shines a light on something many parents look for, but seems to elude them. Validation that the program works --RESULTS. Isn't that the biggest question you get, "What will the program give my son or daughter...what can I expect...how long will it take to see results?" I'm very proud Jake is attending the Camp MakeBelieve Kids program. The changes he's made are priceless!"
