Social and Emotional Learning Program

Today it is not enough just to teach our kids how to read and write, we must also help them develop the skills to manage their emotions, resolve conflict and make good choices.  Educators and policy makers are showing increased interest in programs designed for after-school hours that emphasize SEL (Social & Emotional Learning).   They are focusing on SEL programs for three primary reasons. First, SEL programs can arm children with techniques to combat anti-social and destructive behaviors. Second, SEL programs can provide enriching experiences that broaden children's perspective and improve their socialization. Third, and a more recent emphasis, SEL programs, whether after-school or incorporated in the school day, can help improve the academic achievement of students.
